This past year, Partners in Island Education has partnered with local businesses to help bring educational opportunities to students on Vinalhaven.
With the Vinalhaven Land Trust, the Perspectives After School program was available to grades PreK – 5. The Perspectives afterschool program is an arts-based, community-based and experiential learning opportunity for students. With the Vinalhaven School, we were able to offer PIE Scamps (school camps) this past August. Two different camps were offered ranging from ages 4 – 14 for 3 weeks and was a huge success! There was RoboticsSCAMP where students learned to design, build, & program small-scale Lego Robots and ArtSCAMP where much fun was had making art!
Again, you can find out more about Scamps on our programs page by clicking here.
PIE partnered with Tanglewood in August to offer camps to kids age 4-11 on the island. We had a blast – it was a great partnership! This type of partnership with off-island organizations is new for PIE and we’re very excited! Thank you Tanglewood for sending out some great counselors and curriculum!
We look forward to finding more ways to partner with other organizations in the future!
